Who i am
About
Product Owner – ecommerce
My name is Florin and I am currently working as a Product Owner for the B2B ecommerce platform used by Network One Distribution in Romania.
Before that I worked as a full-stack web developer for more than 6 years using php frameworks such as Magento 1 and Magento 2, both Community and Enterprise editions, and many others.
At the time I write this, I already worked on this position for almost three years and got certified by scrum.org as a professional scrum product owner.
This is a major step ahead for my carrier and I dedicate almost all my time on bringing value to the product(s) I am responsible for. And this product is the B2B ecommerce platform used by thousands of Network One Distribution customers.
I work with a team of highly prepared developers and QA engineers. With the help of their project manager we are constantly improving our platform by using Agile and Scrum.
My role highly dynamic:
The main activity is gathering business requirements from various internal stakeholders such as sales, procurement, marketing, IT or financial department, reviewing, documenting and estimating those with our development team in order to get the approximate cost. Approve the cost, more documenting and then adding them on one of our backlogs.
Refining the backlog and prioritizing what’s most important to be developed. Planning the sprint with our team.
Keeping a close contact with the users and figuring out what’s best for them in terms of usability and functionality.
Working with the development team on the product in order to find the most balanced solutions in terms of cost, technical debt and business impact for the features we are working on.
Constantly check the sprint planning with the team in order to make sure we deliver on time the assumed features.
Analyzing how the implemented features changed the users behavior by collecting data using Google Analytics, Zabbix and CrazyEgg, watching sales reports in our ERP or building custom reports in order to figure out the overall business impact of our work.
And probably a few more such as researching technology, global b2b market or analyzing competitors.
Overall, I enjoy each day of hard-work and moving on from codding feels that was the right decision more and more.
How I got here?
I always wanted to do more than coding, this is the truth. I felt more attracted to the why are we developing this question rather than how are we going to implement it. Therefore I immediately embraced the opportunity Network One Distribution offered to me and joined their team as a Product Owner. In the same time, without my technical experience I think I couldn’t get here.
My previous working experience was
– full time freelancer on Magento2 projects ( worked for an US ecommerce startup )
– co-founder at Buzzle.ro – e-learning platform
– full time lead web developer role at one of the most popular Romanian software companies (Zitec) where I was responsible for the development process of three Magento Ecommerce platforms.
Previous to that I have been leading the development team for Inzonata.ro for two years. My first job for two years were on web development company where I have learned so many things. It was during collage and was also tough.
My tech background summary:
Tech stack: php5 / php7, mysql, mssql, javascript, HTML5, CSS3 , REST, WordPress, jQuery, Linux, Vagrant, Apache, docker.
Frameworks I worked with:
Wordpress: currently working on some projects based on it.
Magento 2: 1 year
Magento 1: 4 years.
Zend Framework: 6 years,
CodeIgniter: 2 years,
